On 16th July, 2006, Carmel Convent School inaugurated its 50th Year. The splendid inaugural ceremony was blessed with the presence of the Archbishop Vincent M. Concessao, Archbishop of Delhi. To commemorate this very special occasion Carmel Convent hosted a Cultural week. Various interschool competitions such as English Debate, Science Symposium, Volley Ball tournament. Western Music Competition, PowerPoint Presentation, Folk Dance, Fancy Dress ,and English Recitation were conducted.
As a tribute to the glorious past of this institution, students of Carmel Convent School staged for the first time in India, the Musical ‘Children of Eden’. Under the expert direction of Mr George Pulinkala, the choreographer Mr. Chittaranjan Nayak and Mr. Andrew Hoffland, our children were moulded into such accomplished singers, dancers and actors.
To mark the conclusion of the Golden Jubilee year, Carmel Convent School, New Delhi hosted a series of inter- school cultural events from the from the 17th to the 27th of July, 2007. Many prestigious schools across the city attended the events. The events included a a Fancy Dress competition for the tiny tots and Creative Writing for the Middle School, followed by the English Debate the next day. The interference of Media in personal lives was the topic of discussion for the Hindi Debate. This was followed by a Science Exhibition where in the participants displayed their engineering skills by making working models on the themes provided. The day after that we hosted a Book Discussion. The book under discussion was ‘The Shadow Lines’ by Amitav Ghosh. The Poster Making competition the next day was also a great success. We owe the success of the Quiz the next day to Mr. Srinijoy Chaowdhary, the Quiz Master for the event. The English Elocution competition was held for the little ones the next day. The last event in this series was The Dramatics Competition.
