Sports prepare a child to become a liberal individual who understands the nature of teamwork and apply the sporting spirit in all aspects of life. Sporting activities play a very important role in the holistic development of students and inculcating values like optimism, belief in oneself and the ability to face all the challenges.
We, at Carmel Convent School, aim at providing the best of sports facilities for our students. The school has well maintained grounds for different games like Basketball, Volleyball, Badminton, Table Tennis, Throwball, Skating, Lawn Tennis, Chess etc.
Experienced and professional coaches train the students and prepare them for the various tournaments conducted within and outside the school.
Achievements 2010 - 2011
Basket Ball
Carmel participated in the British School basketball tournament and won gold medals.
The senior basket ball team won silver medals in the Zonal tournament.
The sub junior team won bronze medals in the zonal tournament.
Carmel participated in the Reliance Basketball tournament which was organized
by the Basketball Federation of India in which they short listed the teams from all over
Delhi. It was a double league tournament in which our team played total 8 matches and
won 5 matches.
Volley Ball
Carmel organized an Inter- school Volleyball tournament on 29 th August 2010 in which about 14 teams participated. Our team was runners up in this tournament.
The senior team won gold medal in Zonal tournament.
The sub junior team won bronze medals in Zonal tournament.
Six players from the senior team have been selected for the Inter- Zonal
tournament where they represented our zone along with other six students from
different schools. The players are Somya Kautia (captain), Medha, Shivani Hasija,
Vageesha , Harman & Lakshya.
Football
The school football team participated in CBSE Tournament which was held in the month of October at
Ganga International school, Hirankudana. Our team defeated Bal Bharti School with
Score 3-0.
AARUSHI NAYYAR of class VIII A has been selected in Delhi State team and
represented Delhi in National Football tournament in under 16yrs category. She has
been also selected for School National Games as a team member of Delhi State team in
under 14yrs category.
Sabah of class XI has been selected in Delhi State team and represented Delhi In
National Football Championship in under 19 yrs category.
Badminton
The Junior team won silver medals in Zonal Tournament.
The Sub- junior team secured 4th position in Zonal Tournament.
Table Tennis
The sub junior team won bronze medal in Zonal Tournament.
The senior team won bronze medal in Zonal Tournament.
Our team participated in CBSE tournament.
Lawn Tennis
The junior team won silver medal in Zonal tournament.
The Sub junior team won silver medal in Zonal tournament.
Our subjunior team participated in CBSE NORTH ZONE Tournament which was held
in Chandigarh in the month of October where they secured 4th position.
Priyansha Gulati of class VII B participated in British inter school tournament in which
she defeated the Delhi no 24 player and won the title. She also participated in Inter Academy lawn tennis tournament where she defeated 14 players and won the title.
Chess
Carmel's chess team has participated in CBSE NORTH ZONE. The tournament which was
held in K R MANGALAM SCHOOL, DELHI in u-14, u-16 and u-19 category .
Vaishali Moolchandani of class 9th won the board prize.
Vaishali Moolchandani of class IX and Priya Jaiswal of class X have been selected in the Delhi State team and represented Delhi In School National Games which was held in
Goa.
Skating
Donalda of class IV and Upasana of class V won many medals in different Delhi state
Skating championships in the year 2010
