Carmel Convent School aims at providing the best facilities possible for our students in the field of sports. The school has sports activities every morning for about 50 minutes. The middle and senior school has sports activities on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. while the junior school has sports activities on Tuesday and Thursday.
Students can opt to be trained in basketball, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, football, taekwando, throwball, lawn tennis, chess, athletics or shooting during the morning activities. Kho-kho and handball are being introduced this year. We have professional and experienced coaches to train the students.
Carmel gives a lot of importance to improving the fitness level of students. Every Monday morning students are engaged in a mass drill conducted by our PET teachers. Students do exercises to tone and strengthen their muscles. In these sessions students learn self defense techniques which not only help them to defend themselves but also give them the confidence to handle difficult situations.
Practicing in the morning sun’s blazing heat, Carmel’s basketball team has worked hard towards victory and glory. The team is divided into 3 categories: Sub Junior, Junior and Senior. Participating in various National, State and Zonal Level tournaments, the Basketball team guided by Mr. Aakash has done us proud. The Mother Veronica Basketball Tournament, hosted regularly by Carmel Convent Delhi, has teams fromCarmel institutionsall over India, competing hard for the prestigious trophy.
The volleyball team has come a long way under the guidance of Mr. B. B. Sharma. In 2014, when Carmel hosted the Inter-School Volleyball Tournament, our Volleyball team proved their worth by securing the 2nd Position. The team regularly participates in various Inter-School as well as CBSE tournaments and has brought home many trophies and felicitations.
The school team has made Carmel beam with pride as their unvarying determination and hard work has been paying off. The Senior, Junior and the Sub Junior teams routinely practice in the early summer mornings, by incorporating both work and fun, and showing will power to work.
Members of the Athletics team of Carmel have set a great example for their fellow students by achieving great heights, participating in track races and field sports at the National, State and Zonal Level. Athletics has helped the team to increase their stamina and to develop the physique of the team members.
Chess is a two player strategy board game played on a chessboard and helps in brain development. Often securing first prizes, the Senior, the Junior and the Sub Junior teams have helped contribute to Carmel’s grandeur.
Carmel provides training to students who play Lawn Tennis, and encourages them to participate in various competitions. The constant help and support from Carmel’s PE teachers has helped each team member to go the extra mile.
Table Tennis, usually a casual game played between either two or four players, has now been taken to a competitive level. The team frequently stays back after school-hours to enhance and improve their techniques, to become better players with the help of their coaches.
Throwball is an integral part of Carmel. The school team has won the most number of awards in the Zonal Level and has played for various Inter-School tournaments, accomplishing their goals to be one of the best.
